Hello and welcome!
My name is Jessica, but most people call me Jess. I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. I am 23 (almost 24) years old and from the state of South Dakota. I graduated with a B.S. degree in Psychology from the University of South Dakota in 2015, and I am currently in Medical School. I have a great desire to learn and studied a wide variety of subjects while attending college, including everything from psychology to history to english. Constantly seeking new experiences, I love trying new things and challenging myself. Outside of school, one of my greatest passions is traveling and seeing other cultures, and these will always be an important part of my life.
On the first day of a Criminal Justice class I took in college, my professor brought in a lantern. This lantern had four sides with windows that allowed you to see the light inside. He explained that the lantern symbolized the importance of perspective. If you stay looking at the light from one side of the lantern, you will only understand the light from that side. It is crucial to move around the lantern, gaining a different perspective with each turn. This has come to represent my mindset about life. The light inside the lantern represents life. My desire is to immerse myself in experiences that will move me around the lantern, ultimately helping me gain a new perspective about this world we live in and my role within it.
This blog is my story of the journey of life and the importance of seeing life from a new perspective. I hope you enjoy reading and following along. Who knows, perhaps one day we’ll run into each other in the midst of moving around the lantern.
